Trio Valore - Edinburgh - Voodoo Rooms - Thursday 30 January 2014
On this cold January night I made my way through to the Capital and the Voodoo Rooms on what proved to be a night of pleasant surprises. Firstly, I had never visited the Voodoo Rooms before and instantly I was impressed with the character and décor of this place. As the crowd filled-up to what I imagine was capacity and after the exhibitable performance by Les Bof, Trio Valore took to the stage.
Having been to see Steve White and Damon Minchella perform as ‘The Players’ a number of years back in Stirling, I was keen to take the opportunity to see and hear the guys perform as Trio Valore and they did not disappoint. With Justin Shearn on keys the trio played a blistering set with the crowd enjoying the vibe and responding to Damon’s heckling for a Top 15 tour venue rating (I am not quite sure what the final Damon rating was for the Voodoo Rooms). Towards the end of the set Steve took to the mike and shared a few poignant words about The Style Council as well as thanking some long-standing friends in the audience including author of 'Mr Cool's Dream: The Complete History of The Style Council' Iain Munn.
On that note, perhaps the time is right for a Style Council re-union…until then Viva Trio Valore!
